OUR LOCATIONYallingup is an aboriginal word meaning "place of love". An appropriate name for such an idyllic location. The countryside, coastal and forest scenery is awe inspiring, and it is little wonder that artists and photographers alike draw inspiration from the beautiful surroundings. It has been a popular destination for over 40 years with surfers, honeymooners, and people seeking an otherwise alternative lifestyle. Since then, there has been an emergence of many world renowned boutique wineries due to the ideal climate and soils, and its popularity has spread because of its immense beauty and attraction for people of all ages and nationality.

GolfYallingup is located just 263km south of Perth. Its convenient and central location to world class surfing, fishing, coastal walks, local arts and crafts, galleries, restaurants, wineries and breweries, ice creamery, chocolate and cheese factories, and horseriding - means there is always something for everyone. It forms part of the Margaret River region. Whalewatching from late July through to early December is a natural occurrence not to be missed either from the beach or whalewatch charter boat. Close by in Dunsborough (only 8km) an international golf course, the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, and scuba diving on the HMAS Swan await you. There are designated walking tracks from "Cape to Cape" and the length of your walk can be determined by how much time and energy you have. It is a must to always carry sufficient drinking water, and there are professional guides available (enquiries through Tourist Bureau) to take you through who are able to point out geological points of interest and name wildflower species.

Bring your goggles and snorkle to see the delights found below the water's surface. It is not uncommon to observe a pod of dolphins frolicking and surfing the waves. A delightful children's playground built by local craftsmen with impressive views of the ocean, a cafe, kiosk and surf shop can be found to while away some relaxing moments. Further on down the coast, a short driving distance away, is the beautiful pristine Smiths Beach which is also a popular swimming and surfing spot.

CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGECanal Rocks is a spectacular cluster of rocks, which is very popular with fishermen and sightseers. The natural form of the rocks creates a canal whereupon with each swell in the waves the water surges and breaks on and through the rocks. A bridge has been built over the canal so you can witness this occurring close up and take some photographs.

CLICK FOR LARGER IMAGEAmongst the many magnificent limestone caves along the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge, four are open to the public and these are found on Caves Road. Ngilgi Cave in Yallingup, is perhaps the Cape's most popular attraction. Discovered over 100 years ago by early adventurous European settlers, it was thus named after the Aboriginal legend describing a good spirit (Ngilgi) and evil spirit (Wolgine). Tours are conducted with an experienced and informative guide, and access is suitable for all ages. Mammoth, Lake and Jewel caves are near Margaret River and well worth a visit.
